A BASIC DEFINITION OF INTEGRATION IS “TO COMBINE TWO THINGS SO THEY BECOME WHOLE”.
We naturally do this in life as we take in new information, grow and make changes. And this is also an open-ended process that continues throughout our lives. Possibly you have some good ways to support this process, but also like most of us, you may have unconscious habits of stacking experience upon experience without any processing.
There are some positive practices to integrate into your daily life that have proven to give stable and helpful results. Become consciously active; through practicing self-awareness throughout the day, question your tendencies and make changes where needed, make time for self-reflection outside of life’s demands, question more and seek for answers, have patience for fruition.
Nourish your Body
The dietary guidelines post retreat are encouraged for up to a week post retreat and are based upon what is traditionally known to maximize the effects of Ayahuasca. This allows for the medicine to dissipate more slowly from your being and thus giving more time for gentle integration. Following the diet even after you return home can be a reminder that you are still very open and sensitive. If you received guidance about your health in ceremony, follow that.
Cultivate and/or maintain a personal practice, something you do regularly that encourages reflection and introspection, at a protected time where you can nurture your connection to yourself. This could be lighting a candle on a small altar each day to give thanks or meditate, taking time every morning or evening to write in your journal, or giving yourself the space to take a walk outdoors every day to marvel in awe at the beauty of this magnificent earth, and become available to even receive a messages.

Interactions with others can be challenging on return as you may not relate to your old friends or your family in exactly the same way that you used to. It can be disheartening when experiencing a lack of connection or understanding from those close to you who haven’t experienced what you have. And this can affect your healing process. Think about reaching out to those you met during your retreat and joining some groups where you can communicate openly and authentically about your experiences and feelings. You are always welcome to reach out to us!
Connect with Nature
Nature is an extricable part of healing and indeed a big part of our daily existence here in the forest. Connect with nature where you are, it’s everywhere! Continue to foster your relationship with plant spirits who continue to work with you after you leave here! Pay your respects and honor the work you have done and journey ahead.
Be Kind with Yourself
Remember who you are and be gentle with yourself! Remember that you are a vast being of beauty and divine perfection, a human full of grace. Foster your values and allow yourself to listen, learn and change! Waking up grateful for the present moment is a beautiful way to maintain your vibration higher. Bringing your hands in prayer close to your heart as soon as you wake up is already a simple, beautiful form of expressing an authentic “thank you” for the new day.
